Be a Smarter Lady Biker
Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia'south Women Bike PHL initiative hosts Urban Riding Nuts. The free gathering is for ladies and female-identifying folks who desire to larn more than about how to be a better, safer biker in Philly. Instructors will share means to deal with aroused drivers, offer a few route suggestions and tips on how to dress for the conditions. They'll too cover basic info on Philly's bicycle share program, Indego, for those who haven't yet embarked on wheel-rental territory. Thursday, March three, half-dozen pm to seven pm, costless, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia.
Listen to Funny Stories, Assist Young Writers
A gaggle of local funny folks come up together for False Histories, an evening of comedy and mingling for a good cause. What's imitation history, you ask? Host Jaime Fountaine (pictured, right) explains that performers will "tell completely made-up stories about the history of Philadelphia," all for the sake of making you lot express joy. There will also be a fake history quiz and raffle prizes from a handful of local organizations. Twenty per centum of everything you spend that nighttime—from food and drinks to raffle tickets—will go to Mighty Writers, the local nonprofit that teaches cocky-esteem through strong writing skills to young people aged 7 to 17. The Philadelphia Museum of Art invites local wordsmiths to the Museum Library on Saturday for its Fine art + Feminism Edit-a-Thon. The event was created with the aim of tidying up erroneous Wikipedia entries involving fine art and feminism. The 24-hour interval begins with a brush upwards on Wikipedia, courtesy of the Chemical Heritage Foundation'south Mary Mark Ockerbloom. And then, reference materials—and snacks!—volition exist doled out to help you start mending mistakes. The Citizens Planning Establish of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission will brainstorm taking applications this month for intrepid zoning nerds interested in learning about city planning and development. This is the rare opportunity: City authorities empowering regular citizens to take an active function in the evolution of their community. The classes will be held Midweek nights in in April and May.
